National exercises

Civil protection exercises are an important tool for preventing emergencies and testing the effectiveness of civil protection plans. Their purpose is to assess response procedures, knowledge of the local area, and the adequacy of available resources in the event of an emergency. They also aim to prepare emergency management stakeholders and the general public to respond appropriately and adopt the correct protective measures.
For national exercises, the Civil Protection Department is responsible for planning and organizing activities, in coordination with the Regions or Autonomous Provinces where the exercises take place. Regional and local exercises, by contrast, are organized by the Regions or Autonomous Provinces, Prefectures or Territorial Government Offices, local authorities, or other administrations belonging to the National Civil Protection Service, in accordance with their respective areas of responsibility and relevant emergency plans.
