National Civil Protection Week Returns from October 12 to 18
On Thursday, October 15, the President of the Republic will officially inaugurate the “Civil Protection Pathways” village in Rome

The eighth edition of Civil Protection Week is here, bringing seven days of events designed to raise awareness of the National Civil Protection Service and promote a culture of prevention. The programme will feature exhibitions, comic books, talks, and podcasts.
On Tuesday, October 13, to mark the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, Department Head Fabio Ciciliano will be in Palmanova (UD) for the opening of Terremoti d’Italia - Earthquakes of Italy, an interactive exhibition that allows school groups and visitors to experience firsthand the effects of the seismic events that have shaped Italy’s recent history.
On the same day, the latest comic book in the The Decisive Moment series, a publishing initiative by the Civil Protection Department aimed at young people aged 11 to 14, will be distributed to all Italian lower secondary schools. In this new adventure, titled Quando tutto trema - When Everything Shakes, the four protagonists must solve a series of riddles, discovering how awareness, preparedness, and teamwork can make all the difference when the decisive moment arrives.
On Thursday, October 15, President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella will inaugurate Percorsi di protezione civile - Civil Protection Pathways, an interactive village set up in Piazza di Siena, in Rome’s Villa Borghese gardens. During his visit, the President will tour the exhibition areas and meet representatives of civil protection volunteer organizations, regional civil protection authorities, technical and scientific competence centres, and the Civil Protection Department.
Civil Protection Pathways will be open to the public from October 15 to 18. For four days, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., citizens, families, and school groups will be able to take part in demonstrations, practical exercises, and talks, gaining firsthand insight into the various components of Italy’s National Civil Protection Service.
On Saturday, October 17, at 10:30 a.m., a ceremony will be held to present civil protection awards to volunteer organizations in recognition of their outstanding efforts to assist the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
