The Exhibition “Earthquakes of Italy” Opens in Palmanova on October 13
A one-month exhibition organized by the Department in collaboration with the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region

The Friuli-Venezia Giulia Regional Civil Protection Department headquarters in Palmanova will host the exhibition “Earthquakes in Italy” for one month, starting October 13. The exhibition is organized by the Civil Protection Department of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, with the support of the Regional Civil Protection Department.
The exhibition, which opens on the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, aims to provide an in-depth look at one of the natural hazards that poses a significant threat to Italy. Through documents, photographs, interactive displays, and videos, visitors will be able to gain a better understanding of earthquakes and learn about measures to reduce their impact. The exhibition also explores seismic hazard, the vulnerability of buildings and urban areas, measures to make homes safer, and the actions to take before, during, and after an earthquake.
The exhibition features a guided tour led by volunteers from the Lares Italia association. It is divided into several themed areas and includes two seismic simulators designed to reproduce the shaking experienced during an earthquake. In the seismic room, visitors can safely experience the effects of seismic shaking firsthand. An essential part of the initiative is the I don't take risks awareness campaign, promoted by the Civil Protection Department to raise public awareness of civil protection and promote good practices for reducing risks. At the end of the exhibition tour, local volunteers will meet visitors to discuss the natural hazards that affect the local area and explain the most appropriate protective measures to take. Advance registration via Eventbrite is mandatory to visit the exhibition. The exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The entrance is on Via Strada Militare.
