Institutions, researchers, and students will discuss the issues of prevention and risk communication. This is the objective of the study day scheduled for Friday, December 1, at the Faculty of Humanities and Philosophy of the Tor Vergata University of Rome.

Representatives from the Civil Protection Department, the National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology (INGV), and the National Institute of Health (ISS) will also take part in the initiative, which is organized by faculty members of the degree program in "Information Sciences, Communication, and Publishing" and will share experiences, projects, and case studies on natural and man-made risk communication and information management in emergencies.

Deputy Head of Department, Titti Postiglione, will also attend the debate with a speech on the I don't take risks campaign and its central role in spreading the culture of prevention among citizens and new generations, who are called upon to play an increasingly active and aware role in the risk reduction process.

Focus on the younger generation, but not only. The emergencies related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine conflict have exposed the valuable citizen information activities carried out daily by the Department's Contact Center, which, for this very reason, will be the subject of an in-depth discussion on the supporting role of this vital service in crisis management.

Other issues covered on the day included inclusiveness and risk communication addressed to people with disabilities with the project "Abili a Proteggere," by the cooperative Europe Consulting in partnership with the Department, and some work by recent graduate students related to emergency communication and the Universal Civil Service project "I don't take risks 365: communication."

The event will be live-streamed on the degree program's YouTube channel and will be accessible to deaf people through the presence of LIS interpreters.
