Seismic risk in Campania is the focus of the webinar on December 15
The event is organized in the framework of the Department's Risk Reduction Programme, implemented within the NOP Governance and Institutional Capacity 2014-2020. Registration form available at a this link
The seismic risk in Campania is the focus of the webinar that will take place on Tuesday 15 December from 9.30 to 13.30.
The online event is part of the series of webinars organized under the Programme "Civil Protection: towards a stronger governance for risk reduction" by the Civil Protection Department in collaboration with the Agency for Territorial Cohesion and the Regions involved in the activities of the Programme. The webinar is realized with the support of the National Research Council.
After a seismic event, the damage assessment to buildings and infrastructures often shows substantial differences even at short distances, or significant collapse and damage at long distances from the epicentre. The quality of the buildings can influence the differences in damage, but often the causes are to be found in seismic amplification effects.
The Campania Region - which in 1980 was hit by a disastrous earthquake celebrated on November 23rd for the 40th anniversary - has been working on the creation of maps of the territory that consider these amplifications (Seismic Microzonation maps) and contribute to an efficient planning of the emergency system.
The webinar will describe some critical processing techniques related to numerical calculations of seismic amplification and will identify strategies and operational methods to achieve optimal results.
You can register for the event by filling in this form. Registration is open until 500 places are available. A broadband internet connection and headphones or speakers are required to attend.
