“I Am Civil Protection Too” School Camps Continue: 2026 Edition Focuses on Training, Active Citizenship, and a Culture of Prevention
More than 4,000 young people across Italy have already participated in this initiative through camps organized nationwide
The 2026 edition of the “I am civil protection too” school camps is continuing across Italy. This initiative, promoted by the Civil Protection Department in collaboration with the regions, the autonomous provinces, and civil protection volunteer organizations, aims to foster a culture of prevention and active citizenship among the younger generation.
In the midst of the summer season, more than 3,000 young participants have already taken part in the school camp activities, organized across 115 camps nationwide, thanks to the commitment of volunteers who, with expertise and dedication, guide young people through an educational journey to discover the National Civil Protection Service.
Through a combination of theoretical and practical activities, exercises, discussions, and initiatives focused on understanding the risks present in the local area, participants have the opportunity to explore key aspects of emergency forecasting, prevention, and management, thereby developing a deeper awareness of the role that every citizen can play in protecting the community.
The school camps represent an important opportunity to promote respect for the environment, knowledge of civil protection plans, and a culture of volunteering and the value of collaboration, helping to strengthen civic engagement and encourage active participation among young people.
The 2026 edition further reinforces the value of this project, which over the years has involved civil protection volunteer organizations and engaged thousands of volunteers in training activities for young people aged 10 to 16, offering them an educational experience that combines learning, sharing, and personal growth.
The activities are set to continue until September, with school camps planned across various Italian regions, continuing to offer young participants a tangible opportunity to gain hands-on experience in civil protection, as well as the principles that guide its daily work: care, solidarity, and community involvement.
