“I am civil protection too”: The 2026 School Camps Come to a Close
Interactive dashboard now online offering an overview of key data from the initiative
The 2026 edition of the “I am civil protection too” school camps has come to a close. This project, promoted by the Civil Protection Department in collaboration with the regions and with national and local civil protection volunteer organizations, offers young people between the ages of 10 and 16 the opportunity each summer to learn firsthand about the world of civil protection.
The 2026 edition ran from June to September, with 286 school camps held across the country, thanks to the invaluable commitment and dedication of civil protection volunteers.
The activities included training sessions, exercises, hands-on experiences, and discussion opportunities, all with one goal: to foster a better understanding of the risks affecting their local area and the best practices for preventing and responding to them.
Particular attention focused on understanding the civil protection system and the role each individual can play in protecting the community. Through the proposed activities, participants were able to discover the values of volunteering, solidarity, and collaboration, while developing greater awareness and a stronger sense of active participation.
The 2026 edition has come to a close on a positive note, reflecting the scale and variety of the activities carried out. To explore the initiative’s key data, the “I Am Civil Protection Too” 2026 dashboard is now available online.
Through charts, maps, and summary boxes, the dashboard provides an overview of the number of school camps held, their distribution across regions and provinces, and the number of volunteers, educators, and young people involved. It also includes information on the training activities offered to participants, as well as meetings with experts from the Italian National Civil Protection Service, providing insights into the different areas of civil protection.
The 2026 edition of the school camps thus marks the close of a summer dedicated to training and engagement between young people and the world of civil protection, offering a glimpse of the ongoing commitment of the Department and the National Civil Protection Service to fostering, among younger generations, a culture of prevention and the value of active participation.
