Ukraine emergency: 58 Ukrainian patients transferred to Italy

The Disevac evacuation service for fragile subjects has also been activated

The CROSS - Remote Centre for Health Rescue Operations - activated by the Department of Civil Protection for the coordination of urgent medical assistance to Ukrainian citizens, is still ensuring the transfer of patients in countries bordering the Ukraine.

Today the Central Unit has concluded the transfer - through a flight of the Guardia di Finanza - of 15 patients, who will be assisted by the health services of the regions Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Abruzzo and Lazio. In addition to the 43 patients transferred in the past days, a total of 58 people have been transferred via MedEvac - Medical Evacuation since the beginning of the emergency.

The CROSS, within the framework of the European Civil Protection Mechanism and in response to the specific request of the Directorate General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission (DG SANTE) will continue to recognize the available beds in the Regions and Autonomous Provinces and to organize the transfer of patients. 

The Department also activated the Disevac - Disability Evacuation - of the Italian Misericordie: a service that guarantees the secure and assisted evacuation of fragile, non-ambulatory people with wheelchairs and bedridden patients from the Polish-Ukrainian border to Italy.
