Ebola: the Italian team sent to Congo has returned today

The mission is coordinated by the Civil Protection Department

In recent days, infectious disease specialists from the Spallanzani Institute, along with officials from the Civil Protection Department and AISE - Italian External Intelligence and Security Agency, arrived in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, to assist in managing the Ebola emergency. They are scheduled to return to Italy today.

The objective of the Italian team, currently the only one among European countries to have reached Congo, is to enhance epidemiological surveillance, offer technical assistance, and deliver medicines and medical supplies to help combat the epidemic affecting the Central African nation.

The team of experts, coordinated by the Civil Protection Department, carried out its mission in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
