Earthquake: swarm in the Phlegraean area, major tremor hits magnitude 4.4

Since 05:50 AM today, a seismic swarm has been occurring in the Phlegraean Fields area, according to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). The strongest offshore event recorded so far reached a magnitude of 4.4.

In response, the Italian Civil Protection Department's Situation Room has been in contact with local structures of the National Civil Protection Service.

The earthquake was felt by residents, and assessments are ongoing for any potential damage.
