The Italian Civil Protection

The institutional leaflet dedicated to the Italian Civil Protection offers an overview of the activities of the National Service. In particular, the publication explains what it is, how it works, and what is the role of the Civil Protection Department within the System.

[...] Civil Protection is the set of activities put in place to protect life, property, settlements, animals and the environment from damage or risk arising from disasters: forecasting, prevention and mitigation of risks, management and overcoming of the emergency. In Italy civil protection is not an articulation of the Public Administration, but a function. The implementation of civil protection activities is in fact provided by the National Service, an integrated system composed of public and private, central and territorial structures, which operate to ensure safety throughout the country.
