The Costa Concordia Shipwreck. Summary of Emergency Response Management

The publication has been realized during the conference on Lessons Learnt related to the management of the Concordia Ship emergency, which took place in Giglio Island on November 14 and 15, 2012.
The meeting involved Italian and European experts and was organized by the Civil Protection Department and the Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Directorate of the European Commission within the Lessons Learnt programme of the European Civil Protection Mechanism.

The manual, made up of six chapters, describes the phases of the emergency management of the Concordia from the early hours after the disaster of January 13, 2012. In particular, it describes the main lines of activity carried out, starting with Search and Rescue operations and continuing with the monitoring of the ship's movements and environmental protection up to the definition and implementation of fuel and wreck removal plans.
