A train with humanitarian aid for Ukraine has set off from Prato

The convoy will stop in Verona and Cervignano

Prato, 8 aprile 2022 – Il capo del Dipartimento della Protezione Civile Fabrizio Curcio alla partenza del treno merci speciale di aiuti umanitari per l’Ucraina organizzato dalla Regione Toscana insieme al Gruppo Fs e all’Interporto della Toscana centrale.

This evening from the Prato interport a train for Slawkow, Poland, departed with a load of 1,067 pallets containing humanitarian aid for the Ukrainian population remained in the country.
The train provided by Ferrovie dello Stato loaded 540 pallets containing medicines, health kits, drinking water, food, clothing and other basic necessities donated by institutions, citizens and companies. The Civil Protection of the Region of Tuscany, together with the regional sections of the National Confederation of the Misericordie, Anpas and the Italian Red Cross, took part in the collection operations.

The Head of the Department Fabrizio Curcio, the Head of the Department for Civil Liberties and Immigration of the Ministry of the Interior and Deputy Commissioner for unaccompanied minors Prefect Francesca Ferrandino, the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani, and the Mayor of Prato Matteo Biffoni, were present at the departure of the train.

After Prato, the train will stop first in Verona to load another 436 pallets and then in Cervignano (UD), where 91 pallets conveyed from the Palmanova HUB will be loaded. Arrival in Poland is scheduled for Wednesday, April 13.
