Stromboli, updates on volcanic activity
The monitoring of the Civil Protection Department in collaboration with the Centers of Expertise continues. At the moment the alert level is orange
The monitoring activity on Stromboli volcano continues carried on by the Civil Protection Department in collaboration with the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv) of Catania, Naples and Palermo and the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Florence.
Currently, as highlighted today by the Etnean Observatory of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, the effusive activity of the volcano continues even if it would seem to be less fueled.
On the basis of the phenomenology and hazard assessments made available by the Centres of Competence, the alert level of Stromboli is orange following the collapse of the outer sector of one of the cones of the crater area North occurred on May 19, which generated a pyroclastic flow along the Sciara del Fuoco, propagated on the surface of the sea for over 1 km from the coastline.
All updates on Stromboli are available in the section dedicated to volcanic risk at the link below.
