Meetings with the population on "Exe Flegrei 2024"
Citizens will be provided with instructions on how to take part in the assisted evacuation exercise
Today, September 23, information meetings began with the residents of the seven municipalities in the red zone for volcanic risk in the Phlegraean Fields. These meetings aim to introduce activities related to the national exercise "Exe Flegrei 2024." The exercise, scheduled from October 9 to 12, will test the plan for evacuating the population from the red zone in case of a potential eruption and will raise awareness about the National plan for volcanic risk in the Phlegraean Fields. Additionally, the message of the national public warning system, IT-alert, sent to those in the Campania region will also be tested.
At 5:00 p.m., the Mayor of Marano di Napoli, Matteo Morra, along with representatives from the Civil Protection Department, the Civil Protection of the Campania Region, and the INGV Vesuvius Observatory, met with citizens at the Auditorium Socrate-Sala Conciliare. They discussed the exercise scenario and explained how citizens can participate. The goal is to increase public awareness of the Plan and encourage community participation to ensure its success.
On October 12, residents in the red zone will participate in an assisted evacuation test. They will move from the waiting areas specified in the Municipal Civil Protection Plan to the meeting areas. There, they will receive information about the reception plan of the twinned Regions and Autonomous Provinces.
