Hydro-geological and hydraulic risk: introductory course addressed to staff of Decentralized Functional Centres kicks off

The initiative is organized by the Central Functional Centre and the Training Service of the Civil Protection Department

The evolution of technologies and procedures, the facing of increasingly complex scenarios, and the need for close cooperation among staff involved in the meteo-hydro warning chain, require specific training and constant updating.

In this perspective, the Central Functional Centre and the Training Service of the Civil Protection Department have started a new training course aimed at experts in charge of hydro-geological and hydraulic risk evaluation working in Decentralized Functional Centres.

Given the high number of applications, participants are divided into two training sessions: the first from November 28 to December 1 and the second from January 23 to 26, 2024.
The classes are taught by experts from the Civil Protection Department and the training program is divided into two stages, an initial one already being held remotely via video lessons on an e-learning platform and a second, four-day in-person session at the Department's operational headquarters in Rome.

The program, after an introduction to the theoretical-practical foundations and situational insights on the different aspects of hydro-geological and hydraulic risks, from monitoring to ground effects, will provide participants with immediate feedback with field experiences on Central Functional Centre procedures, technical comparisons, and in-depth case studies suggested by participants from the different Regions and Autonomous Provinces.
