Head of Department meets the President of the Lombardy Regional Authority

Lombardy is the venue for what is the fifth stage in the series of institutional meetings for the Head of the Department of Civil Protection, Franco Gabrielli. In fact, this morning, 28 January, the Head of Department met Roberto Formigoni at the Region of Lombardy head offices in Palazzo Pirelli. Present, besides President Formigoni, was the regional Civil Protection councillor Romano La Russa.

Like in the other visits, which began on 14 January in Puglia, the aim is to establish contact with governors, emphasising the relationship of the Department’s subsidiarity with regional and local institutions, and renewing its commitment in the area.
 
At the centre of the meeting between Gabrielli and Formigoni is the subject of inter-institutional collaboration. In the decade that sees the reform of Title V of the Constitution – which included civil protection as one of the main issues – it is important to further develop dialogue between institutions, the Head of Department underlined.

At the meeting at Palazzo Pirelli, the Head of Department presented President Formigoni with a medal for the commitment shown by the Lombardy Regional Authority in the earthquake in Abruzzo. More specifically, it is a testament of public merit that has been conferred by decree to the Components and Operating Units of the National Service for the extraordinary contribution of human resources and equipment to overcome the emergency.

The morning ended with a visit to the regional operations room, where monitoring activities are carried out in relation to the various risks and where, in the event of an emergency, the regional civil protection system meets and operates to coordinate and manage the activities related to the event.
