Glacial and periglacial hazards in the Alps: a conference focused on strategies for improving knowledge, communication, and training
The event is taking place in Rome on December 16 at 9:30 AM and is also available to stream

A conference to present the technical paper “Glacial and Periglacial Hazards in the Alps: A Methodological Framework” is scheduled to take place in Rome on December 16, 2025, at 9:30 AM, at the headquarters of the Civil Protection Department.
The publication, available online, is the outcome of work carried out by a dedicated multidisciplinary working group coordinated by the Civil Protection Department, involving civil protection entities, experts from the scientific community, regional administrations, and relevant organizations.
Its aim is to provide methodological guidelines for the strategic areas of knowledge, communication, and training related to hazards in mountain, glacial, and periglacial environments, with particular attention to the challenges posed by current climate change.
The conference will place strong emphasis on these three areas, featuring two panel discussions dedicated respectively to the “State of knowledge and future development of activities” and “Experiences in the field and the role of civil protection units and structures”.
The conference can be followed via live streaming on this page. A recording will subsequently be made available on the Department’s YouTube channel.
