Visita del Capo Dipartimento ad Hatay in Turchia

Today, February 14, the Head of the Civil Protection Department Fabrizio Curcio arrived in Turkey in the territories affected by the earthquake occurred last February 6.

After landing at Hatay airport, a meeting with the Italian ambassador to Turkey Giorgio Marrapodi was held, followed by a visit to the port of Alessandretta, where the Italian Navy's San Marco Ship docked this morning and where disembarkation operations are continuing for the field hospital provided by the Piedmont Region and the aid delivered to the people affected by the earthquake.

The San Marco Ship will then continue sailing to Beirut where other materials - in particular tents, cots, sleeping bags, heating equipment - will be disembarked to prepare a reception camp in Syria capable of receiving more than 1,000 people.

The Head of Department, then, visited the site of Daphne, a suburb of Antioch identified by the Turkish authorities to set up the field hospital, strategically located near several reception areas, to provide care for the widest number of people possible.

The inspection continued at the work area of the USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) Teams of the Fire Department and ended with a visit to the Campo Italia in Antioch.
