Civil protection means protection for all: the Department attends ExpoAID 2026
Three days of meetings, workshops, and activities in Rimini focusing on disability and inclusion

ExpoAID 2026, a major event promoted by the Minister for Disabilities to foster dialogue among citizens, institutions, and third-sector representatives on disability and inclusion, will take place from June 25 to 27 at the Palacongressi di Rimini. The event is accessible to all, especially people with disabilities, and features over 50 seminars, workshops, art exhibitions, and two evening events.
For this second edition, themed “I, a person of value,” the Civil Protection Department will once again participate and host a dedicated booth. Visitors can discover the activities and initiatives—under the “Abili a proteggere” project—that promote a participatory, accessible civil protection system that is ready to listen to everyone’s needs.
During the opening day, the Department will also be among the key participants in the seminar “Protecting people with disabilities in emergency situations,” scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Sala del Parco; seating is limited, and reservations are required via the expoaid.it website.
ExpoAID 2026 will also serve as an opportunity to present to the public the AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) fact sheets—promoted by the Department in collaboration with the “Abili a Proteggere” project and produced by the Leonarda Vaccari Institute—designed to help people with complex communication needs become familiar with best practices to follow in the event of earthquakes, floods, and wildfires.
During the three-day event, there will also be several short sessions of “Visual Vernacular,” an artistic performance that combines sign language, mime, and body language, featuring scenes inspired by the first issue of the comic book “The Decisive Moment.”
Also present at the booth will be the A2A civil protection volunteer association, which focuses particularly on training people with disabilities in risk prevention—including through the “I am civil protection too” school camps—and which will highlight the civil protection system’s commitment to a more accessible society.
