"Civil Protection Days" at the Circo Massimo
The event is organised by Roma Capitale on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 April
On Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 April 2023, the Circo Massimo in Rome will host the "Civil Protection Days for the resilience of the Capitoline community", an event organised by Roma Capitale with the support of the Civil Protection Department and the Lazio Region's Civil Protection Department.
The objectives of the initiative is to bring citizens closer to the world of civil protection, tell them how to become part of voluntary organisations, show them the activities organised, and educate young people and adults on the correct behaviour to adopt to prevent disaster risks and, in case it happens, in emergency situations,.
There will be several areas dedicated to hydraulic and hydrogeological, seismic, tsunami and forest fire risks, with an 'I don't take risks' stand on good Civil Protection practices set up thanks to volunteers from various organisations in Rome; there will be public rescue areas managed by the National Fire Department and emergency health care with the Italian Red Cross, one for the regional and local Civil Protection system with the participation of the municipalities that set up the Local Authorities Mobile Column of the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI), and one including the system's operating structures, including police and armed forces.
The opening event, which will also be attended by the Head of the Department, Fabrizio Curcio, is scheduled at 9.30 AM on Saturday 15 April. Citizens, then, will be able to experience various activities up close, stop by and follow the seminars planned over the two days, and visit a reception camp and a field veterinary hospital. For children, there will be numerous play and educational activities, besides the initiatives organised by Save The Children.
