Bad weather: The Board of Trustees for the use of funds raised has been set up

The fundraising was activated after the floods occurred in October and November 2018

The bad weather events occurred between last October and November hit and harmed ten Italian regions (Calabria, Emilia Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Tuscany, Sardinia, Sicily and Veneto) and the two autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano. With the Head of Department’s Order of November 15, 2018 a fundraising was activated through the solidarity number 45500. The funds raised amount to € 739,934.00 constituting pledges of donation. According to Regions and Autonomous Provinces, the funds are destined to Veneto, which is the territory most damaged. Donations made on the treasury account will complement these funds.

A Board of Trustees composed by three members, one appointed President by the Head of the Department, and two appointed by the Unified Conference has been set up with a Decree of February 6, 2019 issued by the Head of the Department in order to guarantee transparency for the use of funds raised.

The Head of the Department appointed Prof. Raffaele Squitieri, former president of the Court of Auditors, as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Dr. Veronica Nicotra and Dr. Nicola dell'Acqua are the other members and have been appointed respectively by Anci and by Regions and Autonomous Provinces. The office of the members is free of charge, while the mission expenses are covered.

More than two million euro flowed to the treasury account. Representatives of the 5-Star Movement through the restitution of their emoluments participated to the donation. This allowed to allocate approximately € 665,000 for the realization of specific interventions to Friuli-Venezia Giulia Liguria and Sicily, also seriously damaged. These resources will be managed by delegated Commissioners who identified together with the Regions the projects to finance. Along with the project in Veneto, also projects of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Liguria and Sicily will be realized under the scrutiny of the Board of Trustees.
