The annual conference of the National Group for Solid Earth Geophysics (GNGTS), at its 41st edition, is scheduled from tomorrow, Tuesday 7 February, to Thursday 9 February.

This year, researchers will meet in Bologna at the Belmeloro campus of the University of Emilia-Romagna's capital, for a three-day event titled "Geophysics for the future of the planet", organised by a Technical Scientific Committee composed of representatives from the Civil Protection Department, the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics, the National Research Council (CNR), the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the Inter-University Consortium Network of University Laboratories for Seismic Engineering (ReLUIS), and the Italian Section of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers - Society of Exploration Geophysicists (EAGE-SEG).

There are three main themes under discussion in the working sessions, with workshops, presentations, round table and debates: seismicity, volcanoes, data and models; analysis and disaster risk reduction; applications: energy, environment, and technologies.

The Head of the Civil Protection Department, Fabrizio Curcio will speak on the morning of Wednesday 8 February. The General Assembly of the National Solid Earth Geophysics Group is planned to start at 11 AM.

All information and instructions on how to register for the conference are on the GNGTS website. Participation is free of charge.
