The 2026 edition of the Civil Protection Department Calendar is now online
This year, the focus is on international emergencies in which our country has played a frontline role

The 2026 edition of the Civil Protection Calendar is now available online and is being distributed. This publication is intended for all members and operational units of the National Service, as well as for communities and local territories.
Following the first edition in 2025, which highlighted the history of Italian Civil Protection through events deeply rooted in our country’s past, the 2026 edition will focus on international emergencies.
Cooperation between civil protection systems across different countries, opportunities for dialogue and exchange on risk prediction and prevention, and the possibility of mutual assistance in emergencies have now become an established reality. This represents a well-defined path, with Italian Civil Protection consistently open to sharing its expertise, knowledge, and experience.
However, today more than ever, it is important to remember that just 25 years ago in Europe, the line between risk prevention and environmental policy was extremely thin, and there was still no common strategy for protecting European citizens in the event of a crisis.
The “European Civil Protection” as we know it today is the result of continous, focused efforts carried out by many countries, which, since 2001, have had access to a valuable resource: the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
Therefore, the 2026 edition of the Department calendar focuses on international emergencies, documenting years of commitment abroad, fostered as a source of solidarity and progress, even during challenging times when our country was simultaneously managing and experiencing emergencies.
