Ukraine Emergency: Italian aids to Slovakia, Romania and Moldova

The Civil Protection System's commitment in assisting the population continues

A refugee camp has been delivered today to the Slovakian authorities to welcome the Ukrainian population in Michalovce. The camp provided by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. Technicians, volunteers and operators have been working without stop to set up the structure equipped with all the necessary to provide full assistance to 250 people. Red Cross staff, volunteers from the National Alpine Association and regional technicians will remain on site to support the local fire department that received the tent and will manage the operation.

The load of medicines, supplies and medical equipment, which left the Palmanova hub on March 21, was delivered in the early afternoon to the Ukrainian authorities in the logistics hub of Suceava, in Romania. The materials have been provided by Lombardy, Piedmont and Umbria.

In the evening, the 500-person camp offered by the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano will arrive in Chisinau, Moldova. The 84 tents, complete with lighting, heating, beds, services and a camp kitchen, will be given to the local authorities who will manage them.

The Department of Civil Protection has been guaranteeing the delivery of humanitarian aid since the beginning of the emergency, following the requests received by the European Civil Protection Mechanism from Ukraine. The Department coordinates both the assessment of resources available to Regions, Autonomous Provinces, Local Authorities and Operational Structures and the delivery operations.
