Coronavirus: the state of the infections in Italy

The number of Intensive Care Unit patients is decreasing

The Department keeps up its daily commitment working with all the components and operational structures of the National Civil Protection Service.
In particular, with regard to health monitoring operations to contain the spread of Coronavirus across national territory, to present date, that is April 19, the total number of infected persons is 178,972, with an increase of 3,047 new cases compared to yesterday. The current total of positive cases is 108,257 resulting in an increase of 486 cases.
Today’s number of patients in intensive care unit is 2,635, recording a decrease of 98 (-98) patients compared to yesterday.
25,033 people are hospitalized with symptoms, an increase that is of 26 than yesterday.
80.589 people, equal to 74% of all infected cases, are in isolation without symptoms or with mild symptoms.
We report 433 new victims today, which brings our national death toll to 23,660. The total number of discharged patients who have recoverd from the virus has risen to 47,055, an increase of 2,128 people compared to yesterday.
In detail, the number of infected people amounts to 34,497 in Lombardy, 13,552 in Emilia-Romagna, 14,470 in Piedmont, 10,210 in Veneto, 6,496 in Tuscany, 3,490 in Liguria, 3,182 in the Marche, 4,321 in Lazio, 3,022 in Campania, 1,971 in the autonomous province of Trento, 2,786 in Puglia, 1,337 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, 2,202 in Sicily, 1,987 in Abruzzo, 1,566 in the autonomous province of Bolzano, 436 in Umbria, 864 in Sardinia, 844 in Calabria, 562 in Valle d'Aosta, 247 in Basilicata and 215 in Molise.
