Fire-fighting campaign 2011: technical meeting at the Department

A meeting on the summer campaign Aib-Fire fighting 2011, planned for this year from June 15 to September 30, was held today at the Department of Civil Protection. This year, the official opening ceremony and presentation of the fleet will be held in Bari on June 9.  The meeting, which was also attended by the Head of Department, Franco Gabrielli, saw the participation og representatives of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, Fire Department, the State Forestry Department and other government structures and operations involved in fighting forest fires.

During the meeting, 2011operational guidelines, signed May 13 by the Prime Minister, were analyzed and the deployment of the national fleet for extinguishing forest fires was presented. Also, the first results of the summer campaign of 2010 were announced, confirming the positive trend of recent years and the decline of the fires.

Even this year's operational guidelines identified in forecasting and prevention, planning and active struggle to be done to prevent and deal with forest fires and interface. Coordination between state and regions has been confirmed as one of the core issues for the efficient use of the aircraft fleet, as well as strengthening the system of communication between regional salt, Cor -Regional Operations Centre, Soup- Permanent Unified Operating Room, and Coau- Joint Air Operations Centre.

Among other instruments set up by the national system for fighting forest fires, twinning between regions and the involvement of volunteers in monitoring of forest land - activity financed with funds from the Department of Civil Protection - were mentioned.
