Japan Earthquake: an Italian mission is ready to leave

The National Service of Civil Protection has been enabled to contribute to the request for help from Japan, struck this morning at 6:46 - Italian time - by an earthquake of magnitude 8.9. A Falcon is deployed at Ciampino airport: it can carry four assessment experts and emergency management personnel with the Department of Housing Country Fire Service and a team from Pisa hospital. The Department is constantly in contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Embassy in Tokyo.
The mission ordered by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, is coordinated by the Civil Protection Department - in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Embassy in Tokyo and the Civil Protection Mechanism, the European Commission.
The Italian team is ready to go as soon as they receive the green light by the Japanese government.
