Visit of the delegation of the European Civil Protection Mechanism

Today, 17 January 2011, a delegation of participants to the training programme of the European Civil Protection Mechanism visited the premises of the Civil Protection Department.
The course
The Community Mechanism Induction Course is held in Rome from 15 to 21 January 2011 at the Istituto Superiore Antincendi (ISA) and is dedicated to civil protection operators and experts that work in the field of civil protection assistance at international level.
The initiative, started in 2009, is part of the European project that launched the Joint Italian Civil Protection Training Centre, constituited by the Civil Protection Department, the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa, leader of the project and the Fire Department, of Public Aid and Civil Defence.
Participants
The 25 participants belong to civil protection structures or boards of Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, Great Britain and Russian Federation.
Visit at theDepartment
During the visit at the premises of via Vitorchiano, participants deepened their knowledge of the National Civil Protection System and its organization, with a session dedicated to the 2010 international simulation exercise Terex on seismic risk, held last November in Tuscany.
Then they visited the operating and coordination centres of the Department: Sala Situazione Italia with Civil Protection Department staff working on 24 hours shift, Fire Department, Armed Forces, Police, Carabinieri, Guardia di Finanza, Forest Corps and Port Authorities. In case of national emergencies, other components of Sistema Italia of civil protection work along in Sala Situazione Italia.
Visits to Coau - Joint Air Operations Centre, Coemm - Operating Centre for Maritime Emergencies, the room of the Operating Committe and Central Functional Centre were also in the programme.
