Earthquake in Japan: a second Italian team has leftMarch 28, 2011

Less than twenty days after the earthquake that struck Japan, a second Italian team travelled to Japan on March 28: composed of expertsto evaluate and manage the emergency. The decision to organize a new mission has been taken as a result of the Operating Committee which met on March 23 to make a point with the components and operational structures of the National Service of Civil Protection on various aspects of the emergency management.
This second mission is coordinated by the Civil Protection Department, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and aims to support the Italian Embassy in Tokyo. The new team consists of officials from the Civil Protection Department, Fire Department, National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research and the Ministry of Health.
