The Vice Head of Department supports the Head of Department in the performance of his duties and replaces its duties and responsibilities in case of absence, vacation or when incapacitated.
In particular, the Vice Head oversees activities and jurisdiction of the Administration budget office and aviation, as well as Air Force activitites as per art. 7, par. 2.bis, law 21 November 2000, no. 353, and further changes and integrations, using if necessary the Nucleo unit, established at the Civil Protection Department under the agreement with the Ministry of Defence.
He may exercise, in addition, other functions directly delegated by the Head of the Department.
