Civil Protection Department

The Service supports the initiatives of the Department of competence in relation to epidemic/pandemic events and public health emergencies resulting from natural or manmade events.

It defines and coordinates the efforts of the Department in the field of health care and psycho-social to the population, in case of national and international emergencies. It contributes to the planning and set-up, in coordination with the central government and regional organizations, of health care projects and programs and psycho-social emergency to the population.

In addition, the service activates components of the National Health service, following the Department's guidelines during national and international emergency management. It locates the general outlines and strategies for reducing the health effects of risks, in case of an emergency situation within the competence of the Department.

It ensures relationships with scientific organizations and research with public and private sector, in particular coordinating their activities in case of an emergency situation at national and international level. Finally, it ensures, in close collaboration with the voluntary service, technical operational relationships with voluntary organizations belonging to the health component, by defining its use in case of an emergency situation of national or international interest.
