From 1 February, the Civil Protection Department was responsible for the last handovers of Temporary Housing Modules (MAP) and Temporary Classrooms (MUSP). On 31 March 2010 the L’Aquila Local Council took over management of all the building in the CASE Project (Complessi Antisismici Sostenibili e Ecocompatibili - Sustainable and Eco/friendly Anti/seismic Complexes).

The Department was also responsible for management of donations paid into current accounts put at the disposal of the National Civil Protection after 6 April 2009.

The other competences and roles become the responsibility of the emergency commissioner for reconstruction, Gianni Chiodi, President of the Abruzzo Region and the Vice Commissioner, Antonio Cicchetti.

To guarantee the intervention necessary for a final return to normal, the Decree of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers on 17 December 2010 extended the state of emergency for the Abruzzo earthquake to 31 December.
