Activities for disabled people

For years, the Civil Protection Department has been engaged, in collaboration with other organizations, in civil protection activities to improve emergency relief to people with disabilities.

Since 2004, the Department and the cooperative Eucentre carry on "able to protect", a research project and working integration of disabled persons in the Press Office of the Department.

Among other activities, the Department has promoted the organization of a seminar, on 9 December 2008, with the aim of establishing a dialogue between operators and affected persons and to develop and share the general criteria for the alert and rescue people with disabilities in maxi-emergencies. The seminar was preceded by a tutorial for emergency relief to people with disabilities.

An investigation to verify the presence of procedures and tools for alerting the rescue of persons with disabilities was then started under a civil service project of the Department. The study involved the provincial civil protection, some volunteer associations that deal with disabilities and a sample of persons with disabilities.

The Department is also involved in organizing seminars, training courses and participation in events dedicated to the disability
